Cruivie Wind Turbine

Cruivie wind turbine was developed in partnership with Temporis Wind and Lomond Energy and was successfully granted planning permission by Local Review Body in February 2013.

The site is located to the north west of Lucklaw Hill, approximately 2 km north west of Balmullo, Fife with a maximum generating capacity of 500kW, equivalent to the annual electrical consumption of approximately 280 homes.

Lomond Energy managed the project from feasibility, through the screening stage and throughout the planning application stage to consent.

During the planning application phase Lomond Energy successfully overcame an SNH objection in regard to pink footed geese, similar to that at the Lordscairnie site. They commissioned winter bird survey from October to December in order to allow goose activity to be formally recorded and to identify any concerns the Development may have. The recorded data identified that no significant adverse impact would occur on geese within the area as a result of the Development which allowed SNH to remove it's objection.

A further objection, from the Ministry of Defence (MoD), in regard to potential visibility to the RAF Leuchars radar operated by the MoD was removed by reducing the proposed wind turbine height from 77m to 67m and relocating the turbine a short distance. This was achieved within the same planning application without the need for withdrawl and re-submission.
